Edmonton AB, waiting inside the truck, what was a totally covered wind shield all of a sudden broke up and opened up a little crack to see outside.
Willows beach mirror
When everything around you is mirror calm it is easy to follow
Willows beach, Oak Bay BC, at dawn.
That was an early morning walk to Willows beach which was surprisingly very crowded…with birds of all kinds!
It felt like arriving at a dinner party uninvited, the feathery guests too busy chowing down the delicacies the beach had to offer that we went almost unnoticed.
Give me more!
Unfortunately it is not allowed any more to give snacks to those beautiful gals, so don’t do it! The fine is $500,000 I read somewhere in the news. I hope that was a typo…
Nature’s resilience inspires me to be just like it. Keep going no matter what.
Boundaries define form
Could we ever see anything if there were no boundaries defining it’s form?
James Bay,Victoria BC, Gold
That was a majestic sunset on Dallas road in James Bay in Victoria BC. The light was so rich with color that we could see the golden glow on our faces!
Mani, Greece, Purple
Yes, it was a pretty hot afternoon but not hot enough not to capture the…purple!
I played around a bit with this one as Mr Velzevul was hardly visible in that background. That was in Mani, Greece.
Andros, Greece moment
Must admit I did not expect to see a couch there but somehow it fitted perfectly!
Fort McMurray, Alberta, just landed
Valentine’s day 2014. The day I landed as a permanent resident in Fort McMurray airport. It felt both wonderful and unreal.
When signs are everywhere
Long winters and boredom make you ‘see’ things…
Leaving the past behind
A picture of the wall of my house in Athens, Greece, covered from the shadows of the trees outside.Somehow I knew then I would say good bye one day. 24 melancholic years left behind.
Little message from above
When I was a kid I somehow believed that every time I found a white feather it was a message from above… Not quite sure what the message was this time but it warmed my heart.
Fascinating fish, must say!
I love Irises! Every year when they come out they bring me so much joy! These specific ones are very old and have great memories attached to them.
At first I only saw the mum and as I was taking my cell phone out to take a picture of her something moved underneath her wing!
When Spring comes the streets of Victoria become pink! Cherry blossoms galore. When the wind blows it blows pink petals everywhere. Hard not to smile when surrounded by this.
Always loved to sniff my books!
Always loved to sniff my books!
One of my fav perfumes
Early morning at Willows beach
So very peaceful!
Somewhere on Vancouver island. The color was absolutely amazing!
On the way to Fort McMurray
On the way to Fort McMurray AB. Looks ominous doesn’t it?
Mr Raven just landed on top of our truck and was staring at us eating crackers. He obviously wanted some!
When reality and reflections collide
This picture amazed me more when I saw it on my cell phone than when I actually took it. That was taken at the Butterfly museum in Saanichton on Vancouver island.
Loutraki sunset, Greece
Another majestic sunset but this time in Loutraki - Greece. Couldn’t get enough of it!
Oitylo, Mani, Greece
This is where my partner learned to become cautious of scorpions…
Andros Greece, not telling you where...
I am not telling you where this is because if I do it won’t be our personal little paradise any more!
When there is nothing beautiful around...
Yes, I was desperate… A resident of Fort McMurray had told me earlier “Don’t you find anything you like here?” and I made an honest attempt to find beauty in anything!
Fort McMurray, Heritage park, one summer with Flamenco
It was a beautiful summer day with lots of activities and events and this Flamenco dance captivated me!
Once again searching for beauty…
Andros island, Greece
A beautiful beach with gorgeous turquoise waters and nobody else but us and a lone fisherman.
Oitylo, Mani, Greece
Sitting by the little port waiting to have some fresh fish to eat for dinner. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Moraine lake, AB
I will remember that trip! Moraine lake is perhaps one of the most beautiful places I ever saw. However I had never been in a canoe before… I didn’t know I had to put my legs underneath my seat and not stretch them out in front. I came out of there with a pinched nerve and couldn’t walk for the day! Was well worth it though. One doesn’t get to enjoy such beauty every day.
Fort McMurray down town, almost looking beautiful
I must say Fort McMurray has gorgeous sunsets! I didn’t get to capture this one as we were driving to go down town but the golden glow made the town look really nice.
Dallas road, James Bay, Victoria BC. One of those days where the ocean was quick silver gray with a tinge of blue. Just like my heart.
Angel on my window...
When I first saw this I was initially shocked then I felt sorry for the poor bird…Thanks to the dirty windows we could see the invisible.
Yes, Tofino is just like they describe it. Relaxation at the max.
Only in Greece...
In a little village in Evia, Greece at a taverna. This is red wine made locally and this is how it is served. It tasted as wonderful as it looked!
The guardian of my home
The salamander had been one of my favorite symbols for years, so of course I got one to guard the house!
“We want out!”Honestly, I could hear them scream! :-)
Only in Fort McMurray
OK, don’t ask me what this thing is ‘cause I wouldn’t be able to tell you. All I know is that this is where bitumen is extracted from the tar sands.
Home sweet afternoon
I designed my entrance door in Greece. I shaped with my hands the columns on both sides of the door with a mixture of plaster with tiny granules that look like rice to give that irregular weathered surface. Then I used brown and green stains to brush over to create that old age/moldy patina. Even though I wanted a metal door I didn’t want it to be solid mental all the way as I wanted to be able to see if there was someone there but for them not to be able to see me, so the top half has an opaque glass.
Orvieto, Italy, waiting to be served
We waited quite a bit but it was so worth it!
When shadows are beautiful
Another of those ‘cabin fever’ pics…
Cedar Song B&B, Errington, Vancouver island
This is one of my favorite B&Bs! It is in the middle of the woods in Errington. The hosts are very nice people, friendly, helpful and make delicious breakfasts. The setting is idyllic if you want to shut off the world and relax.
This is how you drink tea
Turkish tea glass
Through the streets of Orvieto.
Home is where the love is
Am a home person big time. But am a love person more. I do miss my home in Greece but there is nothing for me there anymore. The love didn’t survive. It was smothered by the negative aspects of the Greek mentality and eventually self destructed and died.
The crossing and the ferry for me was the Atlantic ocean and an Airbus. Never in my wildest dreams would have I ever imagined I would end up in Canada. Life is magical and so is love.
This is the Galena lake crossing in BC
Don Kichote in Alberta skies
Driving down to Edmonton from Fort McMurray I suddenly saw him!
Winter is here
There was just one and only frozen snowflake on the window!
Beautifully haunting Tofino view
Woke up one morning to this! Had never seen anything like it before, so I was totally fascinated!
Hope and happiness
Willow Beach beauties. These cuties made my day.
Funny how when you are young you do not even want to look at a cup like this yet when you get older they magically acquire a special charm.
Trying hard to find something of interest in this desolate place!
This was one of my ‘Pulling my hair out from boredom’ days up North… Nowhere to go, nothing to do that I could do or enjoy to do. Life with a fragile body can be quite challenging in adverse climatic and environmental conditions. No fun.
A cold Jasper afternoon down town at the old train station
This sculpture in an Italian Church somehow fascinated me. The eternal struggle of good and evil where Good wins. Going through a period in my life where all the odds where against me it gave me hope and strength.
Port Renfrew is not one of my favorite places and the main reason is is that is was always cold and windy when we visited. Yet there are some cool things to see and discover.
Butchart gardens, Vancouver island
When I saw this photo I had taken in the Butchart gardens on my ipad I wasn’t quite sure it was mine. It was so very similar to the dozens of pictures of the gardens on the web. I suppose certain angles are favored by many. :-)
Only in the big white North...
Yes, Fort McMurray again, close to the Super Store in an alley. This is actually frozen water… Brrr…
My sweetheart in Tofino. We were both clicking away almost in a trance. The beauty all around us was out of this world!
Beacon Hill Park in it’s eerie looking dress.
"Draw whatever you want"
First and only painting lesson…
Footsteps on Willows Beach
The beach belongs to everyone…
Not sure exactly where, but quite close to Kelowna, this is at a winery where we had a wonderful lunch and local wine!
Thank Goodness for the gorgeous Northern Alberta sunrises and sunsets. This was an early morning drive down to Edmonton for a doctor’s appointment… This glorious sunrise warmed my heart and filled it with hope and joy.
What you don’t have in Greece is the opportunity to see a 360o horizon as you can do in Alberta. When I first saw it I was in awe! Generous endless land all over. A sky full of clouds swimming above your head that seem somehow much lower than they would look like in Athens for example.
Fort mcMurray's amazing sunsets
Wet and colorful after the rain, splendid sunset!
When you stop and take a picture of this, you know that there isn’t much else around. Somehow the scarcity of variety in an environment forces one to get into a different mind mode.
Mountains! At last!
I am used to mountains, lived all my life surrounded by mountains and the sea. Living for months on end on flat land in Northern Alberta somehow got to me in the end. Seeing the Rockies for the first time was a ‘Wow’ moment for me! Have never seen anything more beautiful!
Nelson in my mind...
Loved Nelson! It is a quaint, charming little town with lots of beautiful old buildings and loads of little restaurants with great food!
Alberta stormy horizon
We were driving down to Edmonton, stopped for gas, turned around and saw this! Wow! The epitomy of Alberta horizons.
Mr Raven wants more crackers
Mr Raven a bit touched up…
Somewhere over the Rockies
Can’t say I liked Kamloops. I don’t like dry, desert like environments too much but I like this picture. It was a sweet evening by the water in a lush garden of the B&B where we stayed.
